Position summary The occupational health physician will be expected to provide OH related care to the site J&J employees. Additionally, the physician would need to provide expertise in the prevention, evaluation, and management of conditions that are due to work related exposure. The physician will also need to provide support in the prevention and management of occupational injuries and illnesses, as well as promote general wellbeing and contribute to the productivity of the workplace • Manage the OH service: o Where required, support the development of the site Global Health service program development to be in compliance with J&J requirements and legal requirements; be knowledgeable of the business needs, organizational and demographic factors o Submit quarterly OH Index report to EHW • Assess the work environment o Provide medical information to site Environmental, Health & Safety and leadership on the outcome of the ergonomics, safety, toxicology and industrial hygiene risk assessments o Review the site Industrial Hygiene data and collaborate with the Environmental, Health & Safety, Human Resources , in the development of Similar Exposure Groups o Participle in the workplace inspections, Environmental, Health & Safety audits and injury/illness investigations o Support recommendations on hazard control measures such as engineering controls, administrative controls and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment. o Be knowledgeable of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and know how to interpret health related information contained in it. • Demonstrate proficiency in clinical practice: Demonstrate proficiency in clinical interventions, including history taking and all aspects of o the medical examination as required based on standards of medical practice o Acts as medical resource to other site professionals and management for information, problem solving, and decision making related to OH related issues o Support the development of the medical aspects of the site emergency preparedness plan, including the selection of appropriate emergency equipment. • Support fitness for work assessment o Conducts Fitness for Work assessments as applicable, including new hire assessments (where legally allowed), periodical medical surveillance examinations and Return to Work assessments o Develop/support the trending of medical surveillance assessments results, and compare with others in the same Similar Exposure Group o Collaborate with employee to recommend employee placement, limitations/restriction and/or job modifications. • Support the site medical surveillance program: o Develop/support the site medical surveillance program, including biomonitoing and trending. o Collaborate where needed in the development of OH required training o Communicate OH related findings to Environmental, Health & Safety and site management where required. • Support the site absence management as appropriate and demonstrate expertise in country specific medical case management • Support the company in the management of psychosocial issues and where appropriate, refer employees/family members to available services such as psychological, medical or other resources, including Employee Assistance Services • Support the development of a company health promotion program based on the outcome of a needs assessment (e.g. Health Profile results) with the outcome of offering educational opportunities that will address the most important lifestyle health risks. o Contribute to the measuring of the effectiveness of interventions, as well as the cost effectiveness and the use of external organizations where required to support the site health promotion program. o Support periodic preventative health screening programs and offer medical advice to employees to promote over-all wellbeing and address any health risks or concerns • Develop/support the site travel health of travel risk assessment, required vaccination and other travel related information needed. Be knowledgeable of external resources that can be used for the delivery of vaccination and offering of prophylactic medication. • Support the site medical recordkeeping process to ensure that is compliant with applicable laws/regulations, including data privacy aspects. • Collaborate with the country health and wellness council and provide subject matter expertise on employee wellbeing programs and health promotion activities * Prepare occupational health reports including but not limited to EHW Dashboard, HEART and any local regulatory medical reports • Educational requirements : Graduate of Doctor of Medicine with Occupational Health Training • Experience: minimum 3 years experience in clinical and occupational health setting • Licensure/certification/registration : Registered/Licensed to practice Medicine and Occupational Health/Occupational Medicine Training Certification . (Preferably) Occupational Health Physician Certified by Japan Society for Occupational Health, and/or Board Certified Physician for Public Health and Social Medicine . • Skills: o Knowledge of Quality Assurance requirements o Strong interpersonal skills and people skills allowing for the ability to motivate, cooperate and work effectively with others o Skill in developing partnerships that will support effective interfacing on site o Demonstrate skills such as empathy, ability to listen and the ability to manage stressful situations and support customer orientation o Demonstrate leadership skills to participate, where required, in the recruitment of staff for the OH service, support professional development, conduct performance appraisals and act as role model and mentor. Demonstrate business acumen, including understanding of English, computer literacy, understanding & knowledge of the core business on site, ability to market and promote site OH services, effective communication and interaction across different cultures and the ability to partner with different groups (Environmental, Health & Safety, Human Resources, Employee Assistance, work councils, etc) Performance indicators * On time delivery of services * Customer satisfaction * Consistent quality of health service delivery * Successful audit outcomes * Adherence to the J&J requirements and goals Understanding of Regulatory compliance and the J&J requirements Be knowledgeable of the applicable country/state health related legislation Communicate impact of country health related legislation on the site Environmental, Health & Safety, as well as Global Health programs Understanding of J&J requirements, programs, resources and policies and how this is related to regulatory compliance, as well as the EHSS Comprehensive Audit process.
