The HCC Director plays a crucial role in helping Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to achieve high performance with high integrity: • Leading HCC Managers and senior individual contributors in a matrix environment to achieve excellence in HCC Program implementation and advise to business partners - to ensure business practices and activities comply with J&J guidelines, local laws, regulations and industry code, as well as anti-corruption laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. • Working closely with the executive leadership, BU management and functional teams and serving as a strategic business partner for management and coach towards all employees; the HCC Director plays a crucial role to assure that the J&J's culture of integrity and compliance is a natural element in day-to-day business. • Taking accountability for meaningful career development conversations and regular coaching and feedback to ensure a robust pipeline of HCC talent in Japan. Specifically, the HCC Director leads, shapes and delivers through a team of managers and professionals: • Demonstrating and modeling an operational excellence mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation. • Empowering and developing local talent in a matrix environment; nurture a team of best-in-class compliance professionals; identify and grow local talent, creating a solid talent pool for HCC Japan, including a succession pipeline; managing operational aspects of team (e.g., budget, performance, and compliance). • Partnering with commercial and functional stakeholders to shape business practices and initiatives: Influencing ethical, patient-centric decision-making, anchored on compliant engagement with Health Care Professionals and Government Officials, aligned with J&J's HCBI Guide, HCC policies, the industry code and applicable laws and regulations. • Supporting commercial and functional leaders in building risk acumen, as well in identifying, understanding and managing HCC risks through strategic partnership. • Implementing an effective compliance program, aligned to the DOJ's 10 Hallmarks; partnering with global & regional functions to continuously evolve program effectiveness and share best practices. • Integrating and model Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision making. Scope of Role Customers/ Account contacts: Limited external customer contact. Purpose of activities: Supporting the 10 Hallmarks of an effective compliance program; supporting high performance with high integrity Impact of activities and decision-making : High impact for quality and timely delivery of leadership guidance to enable compliant growth Level of autonomy/ supervision received: High Autonomy, under the leadership of the HCCO. Role Dimensions Communication with others outside Company: Local industry association and network of compliance professionals. Communication with others within Company: The individual will have the capability and responsibility to influence internal stakeholders across all functions in J&J MedTech and Vision businesses locally and regionally. Qualifications Essential education and experience: • Minimum of 10 years business, legal and/or compliance related experience. • Experience in creating, establishing and leading high performing teams. • Minimum of BA/BS required. MBA or any other advanced degree preferred but not required. • Knowledge of FCPA, as well as relevant laws, regulations and industry standards for Japan. • Ethics / Compliance certifications preferred but not a must. Essential skills: • Independent and objective thinker, able to advance ideas and influence others. • Ability to develop, shape and communicate a vision and lead to execution. • "Eye for talent": Leads, empowers and develops others; is able to identify talent and build the next generation of HCC leaders. • Managing conflicts in an open and constructive manner. • Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. • Deals well with ambiguity and good judgement for novel/complex matters: Ability to shape and lead under ambiguity; ability to create clarity. • Analytical skills and attention to detail. • Excels at developing and maintaining effective partnerships and working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of organization based on an understanding of their concerns, needs and motivations. • Ability to make and stand by and effectively communicate difficult decisions. • Strong drive for results and solution orientated. • Ethical awareness: Being ethically conscious, fostering ethical behavior, and promoting a culture of integrity. • Fluent in English and Japanese (reading, writing, verbal). Internal: Senior Business Unit leaders, Sales, Marketing, Prof Ed, Legal, Finance, Commercial Operations Group, HR/ER, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs and Regulatory. External: Primarily Industry Association and network of compliance professionals Other: Travel on the job: Yes (percentage travelled approx. 10%)
