WiTricity is seeking a versatile Applications Engineer as a member of our product team in Japan implementing our next generation Wireless Charging products to power the global deployment of Electric Vehicles. This position will be based out of Japan in the Greater Tokyo area, with flexibility on location for the right candidate. Candidates must have the ability to travel internationally for one-month for initial training. Responsibilities : Provide pre- and post-sales technical consultation on WiTricity’s EV Wireless Charging System to automotive OEMs, Tier 1s, Fleet Operators, and EV Charging Service Providers based in Japan. Establish and maintain strong lines of communications between WiTricity and our customers at the engineering and technical management level. Provide hardware and software technical support to automotive OEM customers to implement the WiTricity developed product. Provide technical and sales support to Charging Operators and EV Fleet Operators utilizing WiTricity’s Standard’s-based Wireless Charging Product seeking to deploy wireless charging solutions and services. Visit customers and partners on a regular basis to assess their progress, provide support, deliver training, and report status to HQ. Participate on Japanese wireless charging standards groups. Work closely with WiTricity’s US, Europe, and Asia Product Development teams, Product Management, R&D, and Operations to improve products, stay current with technology, and provide regional feedback. Partner with Sales team to cultivate new business. Requirements : BS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required; Advanced degree is highly desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Japanese and English). Must have work experience in the Automotive industry (OEM, Tier1, or Tier2). Experience with Power Electronics preferred. Experience working in an EE lab including experience with Oscilloscopes, Soldering, and other test equipment. Must have good mechanical skills and working knowledge of mechanical engineering. Good business acumen and familiarity with Japanese business customs. 25-75% travel to work onsite with customers in Greater Tokyo area likely; Occasional travel to HQ in US (and other locations such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Zurich) is possible. Occasional flexibility in working hours to collaborate with international teams. Knowledge of functional safety a plus. Knowledge of CAN communication a plus.
