Summary OLI is the world leader in electrolyte simulation technology for the chemical process industry (www.olisystems.com), and we’re growing!We’re seeking an experienced Application Engineer with a strong background in chemistry and/or chemical engineering, to work in the APAC Region (Japan) market. You will join our Application Engineering Team, whose members interface directly with existing and prospective clients.You’ll be responsible for presenting OLI’s technology in sales meetings, delivering on consulting projects, identifying new opportunities within existing clients, training new clients, and providing application support to OLI’s client base.You’ll also work with Product Development, Research, and Digital Transformation to improve our technology offering. Why We Need You OLI is growing in all industry verticals (Oil and Gas, Metals and Mining, Wastewater Treatment, Power Generation). Anchoring this growth is our Application Engineering team. Primary Responsibilities and Duties Here are some of the key areas where you’ll help OLI: Pre-sales : Present OLI technology during sales presentations. Create example cases that demonstrate OLI’s value and provide a compelling technical case for purchase. Participate with Sales in go-to-market strategies. Consulting : Help the Sales team close process consulting opportunities. Perform the consulting work and deliver the results. Identify areas/opportunities for additional consulting services. Application Support : Provide first-line support to clients; and help clients extract more value from the software. Serve as the technical liaison for assigned accounts, building client confidence in OLI solutions, and maximizing the client experience. Identify technical opportunities with existing accounts : Conduct technical account assessments to understand the client’s technology needs. Collaborate with the Sales account manager to uncover opportunities for new and expanded usage of OLI solutions. Develop novel application solutions to address new market opportunities. Training : Deliver training workshops and seminars to clients on-site and remotely. Requirements This role is ideal for an experienced technical professional living in Japan. The candidate must possess exceptional client-facing skills and a strong, extensive background in chemistry or chemical engineering. This individual will also have experience in process simulation or an intense passion for learning process simulation. Specifically, you should be/possess: Language Fluent in Japanese and English (speaking and technical writing.) Education Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in chemical engineering, chemistry, or natural science (required) Master’s Degree (MS) chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field (preferred) Experience At least ten (10) years’ experience working as a Chemical Engineer in one of the following industries: Oil and Gas, Metals and Mining, Wastewater Treatment, or Power Generation. (required). At least three (3) years’ experience using and applying chemistry-based process simulation software (highly desirable). Preferred Expertise Areas We are interested in candidates that have a significant background and passion for: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Process Simulation Applying simulation to process engineering as it relates to Oil and Gas/Geothermal Production, Wastewater Treatment, Metals and Mining, or related industries. Skills & Attributes Ability to effectively engage clients virtually (phone/web/on-site) Willing to travel up to 25%, including international travel Strong analytical skills Results-oriented, problem-solver, self-starter, team-oriented, positive attitude, personal integrity, passion for science and success, a desire to win.
